AIFDR is joint initiative between the governments of Australia and Indonesia. We work in partnership with Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to reduce the social and economic impacts of disaster in Indonesia. We are building the capacity of Indonesian disaster managers to self-manage disasters through training and planning exercises at the national, provincial and district level. AIFDR uses Australian and Indonesian science to better identify natural disaster hazards and risks, and work in partnership with community sector organisations (CSOs), non-government organisations (NGOs), and religous organisations to ensure vulnerable communities are better prepared for disasters.
