The Southeast Sumatra contract (SES) Production Sharing Contract was signed on September 6, 1968, it was extended for an additional 20 years.During its journey, CNOOC SES ltd. was the largest producer of offshore crude oil in Indonesia and has contributed to the nation's development of petroleum industry for the past 38 years. Cumulative production is more than one billion barrels of oil. CNOOC SES Ltd. remains dedicated to continue to produce oil and also develop and deliver its natural gas reserves to the domestic market. HistorySeptember 6, 1968, the state-owned Pertamina and Independent Indonesian American Petroleum Company (IIAPCO) originally signed the Offshore SES PSC. The original IIAPCO was dissolved on November 13, 1974 and the name was then used to designate a division of Natomas International Corporation. The company was subsequently acquired by Diamond Shamrock Corp. (later became Maxus Energy Corporation). On December 16, 1987 Maxus Energy Corp. changed the name IIAPCO to Maxus Southeast Sumatra Inc. Following the acquisition of Maxus Energy by Argentinean YPF in 1995, Maxus SES Inc. became a business unit of the largest oil and gas company in Argentina and on December 23, 1997 it changed the name to YPF - Maxus SES LLC (Limited Liability Company), established under the law of Delaware, USA. December 1, 1999 after Repsol acquired YPF, the name of company becomes Repsol - YPF Maxus Southeast Sumatra SES BV. As per purchase agreement dated January 18, 2002, CNOOC International Ltd. acquired certain Repsol YPF companies in Indonesia. Following the merger and consolidation of the three CNOOC companies holding interests in the Southeast Sumatra SES PSC into one company, and upon the acknowledgement of BPMIGAS with their letter dated November 28, 2002, the company name changed to CNOOC SES Ltd. Product & ServicesOPERATION ACTIVITIESAfter a number of relinquishment, the PSC area are now covers 5, 851 sq. kilometers from which CNOOC SES Ltd. currently produces approximately 43,000 BOPD and 150 million standard cubic feet (MSCF) gas per day that delivered to PT. PLN (State Power Company) as a fuel gas for power generation plant in Cilegon.All SES PSC facilities are situated offshore Java Sea, northeast of the Sunda Strait between Java and the southern most corner of Sumatra.Currently CNOOC SES Ltd. operates 34 production fields, 78 active offshore facilities (58 production platforms and 28 caissons). Crude oil is produced using Electric Submersible Pumps (ESP) from 415 wells, processed on 6 process platforms and transported by a sub-sea pipeline system to two storage facilities, the Widuri Terminal and the CNOOC 114 terminal.
