A valuable internship applying engineering to a real-world QC challenge. The good thingsI thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on opportunity to apply my metallurgical engineering knowledge to a practical industry challenge. Being entrusted with the rainfall simulation project, from initial sampling and lab analysis to data processing and presenting the final findings, was an incredibly rewarding experience. I particularly valued the supportive team environment and the excellent mentorship I received, which allowed me to develop my technical and analytical skills in a real-world quality control setting.
The challengesThe primary challenge was the short two-month duration of the internship. This required a very steep learning curve to understand the company's specific lab procedures and complete the entire experimental project on a tight schedule. While the team was helpful, a more structured onboarding process or dedicated, side-by-side collaboration with a senior lab technician for the initial, complex sample preparation could have helped streamline the workflow and ensure maximum consistency from day one.
