About the role

The Engineering (Handyman) is responsible for performing a wide range of minor repair, maintenance, and preventative tasks to ensure the upkeep and safety of properties. This role includes both proactive and reactive maintenance duties such as minor plumbing, electrical repairs, general repairs of fixtures, and ensuring external areas are safe. The Handyman works under the direction of the Engineering Team Supervisor and assists in maintaining the properties in good working order, providing essential support for both repair tasks and general upkeep. Maintaining and taking care of all technical equipment, as well as preventing loss or damage due to improper use. This includes keeping the toolbox tidy and clean on a daily basis.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake minor repairs to property fixtures and fittings, including desks, tables, chairs, doors, and windows to maintain the overall condition and functionality of the property.

• Perform preventative maintenance tasks, identifying and addressing potential issues before they escalate, including cleaning the air conditioning unit's filters, water heaters, water tanks, and replacing the nano water filters.

• Assist with minor plumbing repairs, such as unblocking sinks, drains, and addressing minor leaks.

• Conduct minor electrical repairs, including fixing lighting fixtures, replacing bulbs, and performing routine electrical checks as needed.

• Perform Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) on electrical equipment to ensure safety and compliance with regulatory standards.

• Regularly inspect external areas (e.g., pathways, outdoor spaces) to identify any potential hazards or risks, ensuring a safe environment for guests and staff.

• Conduct daily litter picks and keep outdoor spaces tidy by sweeping hard surfaces and emptying litter bins.

• Ensure the work area is cleaned after maintenance or repair tasks are completed, leaving the space tidy and ready for guest or staff use.

• Report all completed tasks and outstanding issues to the Engineering Team Supervisor, providing updates on the status of repair work.

• Work in coordination with other team members, contractors, or vendors when required, ensuring tasks are carried out efficiently.
