Material Planning and Buyer
Job summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Material Planning & Buyer to join our supply chain team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring smooth material availability, supporting production continuity, and optimizing inventory performance.
You will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage material flows, analyze inventory trends, and support data-driven decision-making. Your ability to monitor MRP systems, anticipate risks, and maintain accurate planning data will be critical in driving operational efficiency especially during production ramp-ups.
What You’ll Do:
Ensure supply continuity by identifying material shortage risks early, coordinating mitigation actions, and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
Support issue resolution by investigating recurring availability challenges and addressing root causes to prevent disruption.
Plan and manage inventory including safety stock levels, material requirements, and purchase planning to maintain service levels.
Leverage MRP tools to monitor material trends, optimize stock levels, and ensure accurate master data—especially during industrialization and ramp-up phases.
Analyze material performance by reviewing exceptions (e.g., negative consumption, EOL items, new materials) and identifying seasonal patterns or trends.
Collaborate with suppliers by sharing demand forecasts in a timely manner and ensuring alignment on delivery expectations.
Execute purchasing activities including placing orders, monitoring deliveries, following up on confirmations, and expediting when necessary.
Maintain ERP accuracy by updating order statuses, tracking open orders, and ensuring data integrity.
Support supplier analytics by compiling supplier and item data to improve replenishment strategies and decision-making.
Monitor consignment stock and vendor-managed materials, ensuring proper tracking, stock-taking, and control processes.
You're the right fit if:
Hold a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Economics, Data Analytics, Operations Research, or a related field—or bring minimum 2 years of relevant experience in material planning or supply chain operations.
Have hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (such as SAP) and are comfortable working with data tools like Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms.
Are analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, especially in identifying root causes and implementing practical solutions.
Can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and organization.
Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
Show a proactive mindset, taking ownership of tasks and continuously looking for process improvements.
Have a solid understanding of inventory management principles, including safety stock, lead time, and demand variability.
Are comfortable working with data trends and forecasting and can spot patterns that impact supply chain performance.
