Fuel & Ash Handling Operator
1. Job Summary
Operate and monitor fuel handling systems and related equipment such as GTSU, Coal Feeder, Conveyor, etc. to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous plant operations in line with production targets and environmental standards.
Conduct routine inspections, testing, and troubleshooting; coordinate with Control Room and relevant teams to identify issues, implement solutions, and maintain equipment reliability.
Support operational procedures, contractor coordination, and compliance with safety, quality, and environmental policies, including participation in maintenance activities.
2. Key Responsibilities
Operate fuel handling equipment such as conveyors, ship unloaders, stacker-reclaimers, and heavy equipment to support plant operations.
Monitor equipment condition and performance through routine inspections and field checks.
Ensure safe, continuous, and efficient material handling processes within plant operational limits.
Coordinate with Control Room Operators (CCR) for operation, start-up, and troubleshooting activities.
Assist during plant start-up, shutdown, and abnormal operating conditions.
Conduct routine testing and inspections to ensure system reliability and performance.
Perform field supervision and support operations outside the control room.
Analyze operational issues and coordinate with relevant teams to minimize downtime and impact.
Ensure accurate reporting of daily operations, abnormalities, and equipment status.
Maintain proper communication with supervisors, CCR operators, and maintenance teams.
Support commissioning, re-commissioning, and performance testing activities.
Carry out routine cleaning, isolation, and de-isolation of equipment as required.
Ensure minimum coal stock level and continuous fuel supply to the plant.
Monitor and control coal transportation from unloading to plant delivery.
Prepare PTW-related documents and support field isolation (authorized for preparation only).
Coordinate with service providers for material receiving and dispatch activities.
3. Safety, Quality, and Compliance (QEHS)
Comply with company Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety (QEHS) policies and procedures.
Contribute to achieving QEHS objectives and KPIs.
Identify and manage risks, hazards, and environmental impacts in the work area.
Ensure safe working conditions and prevent incidents or injuries.
Support contractor and outsourcing QEHS performance monitoring.
Participate in emergency response, hazard reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
4. Scope of Responsibility
Operate and monitor the entire fuel handling process from unloading (ship/barge) to plant delivery.
Ensure availability, quality, and continuity of coal supply.
Perform routine walkdowns and ensure field conditions match reported system status.
Maintain accurate operational logs, check sheets, and reports.
Support commissioning procedures and coordination with relevant teams.
5. Qualifications
Minimum Diploma (D3) or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. *High School Degree (Acceptable);
Fresh graduates are welcome; minimum 2 years of experience in Power Plant industry is preferred.
Able to work both independently and collaboratively in shift operations.
Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
Proficient in computer and internet usage (MS Office, email, CMMS, and related systems).
Basic understanding of QHSE Management Systems and safety principles.
